It says Jonezy featuring Gage D, but really it's the other way around. He produced the beat, wrote the hook, and blessed the song with a dope verse. Gage was the first person I ever shared a stage with. He was nice enough to back me up on my first-ever performance way back in 2007. He's 1/2 of the group, Perfect Strangers, representing Jim's Pool Room, and although he's much more low key these days, he still finds time to sneak away from his busy family life, down to his basement where he becomes a monster on the mic.

"We Are Monsters" has a Gorillaz vibe, but with a Jim's Pool Room twist. It has a whimsical feel and immediately reminds me of the character Gmork from The Neverending Story. The track eludes to how all of us have a monster inside of us in the form of our primal nature, and additionally, how society and this crazy world can turn us all into monsters sometimes.

Legend has it, there was a monster in the attic, who spent his childhood blowing smoke rings for practice. Climbed out his window one night down the lattice, saw Gladys, looked in her eyes and fell spelled by her magic. As it happens, tried to woo her with his rapping, and when that wasn’t relaxing it really started to tax him. Changed his tactics like so, threw in a few figaros to sound nice, little falsetto sound precise. She said, too many monsters, not enough mice, some call it a Kaiser blade, and I call it a mic. Really takes the fight outta monsters, weak predators, you could use a little humility, notes from competitors. He thought what she said was a little to presuming, so he popped out his switch blade comb and started grooming. My eccentricities offending peeps, coming through in trinities, makes my life tough, but on the mic it's electricity.  Can't be what you expect me to be, I'm too eclectic you see, you're too deceptive with greed, to ever be free, and everything is pleather and sheek, and every day the weather is bleak, and the chicken we eat never grows feathers or a beak, but it's better cuz it's cheap, take your medicine, you better go to sleep, cuz you're on the cusp of something you were never supposed to see, and that's insubordination, and disruptive to the sheep, and if you can't afford to face it, then we'll throw away the key, grow to gray in a bogus cage, with the creeps, wish you could float away, instead of bein treated like a beast.  Fulfill your prophecy with a fallacy, no, the night is filled with darkness and cold, I want to be bold, but if I accepted my role, everybody'd be obliterated, and I'd be long gone.
